An Upstate Wedding at the Lakehouse
Like every wedding, especially in 2020, Katie and Jon’s original vision for their wedding day got a little off track. Katie and Jon originally planned their wedding at the New York Botanical Gardens. However, I couldn’t imagine a better back up plan! Katie’s parents own a beautiful home in upstate New York overlooking Lake Mahopac, and it was here they would say their “I do’s.”
Katie and Jon got engaged right on the water in Long Island City, overlooking Manhattan’s city skyline, so how appropriate that they should get married on the water one year later! The day started out with the girls hanging out in their pajamas, getting their hair and makeup done upstairs, while the guys hung out by the water outside. Katie’s details were so neatly arranged for me to photograph, and I just love her pearl details! She had pearl earrings, pearls on her shoes and even pearls dotted on all the girls’ matching jean jackets.
The ceremony arbor was set up beneath the large oak tree on the lake, with all the chairs set up 6 feet apart for their guests to safely enjoy the wedding ceremony. Katie and Jon wanted to do their first look and all of their portraits by the lake, can you blame them? The views are stunning. The skies were a perfect blue speckled with puffy white clouds.
After the ceremony, Katie and Jon joined their guests for cocktail hour on the deck, and enjoyed the most beautiful food I have ever seen! Abigail Kirsch catered the entire event, and they did a fabulous job!
Before the new bride and groom were introduced into reception, we snuck away for the last of the golden sun portraits and then they headed into the tent (which was heated!) and into their first dance. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a dance floor, and I missed the energy from a great party! All the guests respectfully masked up for dancing and catching up with one another. Katie and Jon really did an amazing job at giving their loved ones the opportunity to be together, safely!
Katie and Jon, we loved being part of your wedding! We are so happy for you, and hope you are enjoying every bit of your Maine honeymoon! Thank you Anne Molnar, for your awesome assistance and amazing shots!
