A Fairytale Wedding

When I first spoke with Melissa, she told me she was obsessed with Cinderella as a little girl. Her love for the fairytale princess didn’t stop there. Mike proposed to Melissa after a production of Cinderella at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, right in front of the Cinderella carriage outside of the theater. How could the fairytale theme not be part of their wedding?

I met Melissa and Mike at their engagement session, and Melissa had the cutest little ring box shaped as a round white carriage, setting the stage for her dream wedding. Not a single detail gets past Melissa. While planning her wedding through the pandemic, Melissa even made masks for all the ladies that matched their dresses. The bridesmaids’ dresses are Cinderella blue. If you’re not quite sure what “blue” that is, scroll down and you’ll quickly recognize it!

Melissa and her bridesmaids got ready at Melissa’s childhood home. Her childhood bedroom, now emptied, except for the “Melissa” cutouts over where her bed would have been, was the perfect place for her to get into her wedding dress.

Melissa and Mike tied the knot in Melissa’s church, and had Mike’s Priest from his Greek Orthodox Church to give the closing blessing. A wonderful blend of family traditions. Following the service, the families lined up to give long overdue hugs and kisses to the newlyweds, followed by a bubble exit.

At the Venetian, we managed to sneak in some portraits in between the rain showers. When it was sprinkling, we couldn’t get enough of capturing Melissa and Mike’s choreographed first dance in the middle of their ballroom! We made them practice a few times, we loved it so much!

Everyone made it onto the dance floor, and anyone who couldn’t dance was in luck! One of Melissa’s bridesmaids, Lauren, is a Zumba instructor, and lead a couple of the dances! While mostly ladies were part of this instruction, Mike was in the midst of all of it! I didn’t see him off the dance floor once!
