A Romantic Wedding at Blue Hill
Julia and Will have the best of both worlds. An intimate civil ceremony and a precious baby girl under their belt by the time we came together last Friday to celebrate their union with family and friends at Blue at Stone Barns in Tarrytown, NY. With a tropical storm on our heals, we made our way over the Tappan Zee Bridge with warnings of flash flooding in the area for hours. Once inside the suite of the Sheraton, with the girls prepping inside, the scene was quite different. Julia had her new baby nursing, while she was getting her makeup finished. The bridesmaids were chatting and laughing, anxious for a fun day ahead.
Julia and her bridesmaids arrived at Blue Hill with their covered dresses in hand, ready for the day. In the cozy bridal suite, Julia was assisted by her Mom and sister to get dressed with her sleepy little girl dozing in the corner. It was time to see her husband!
Blue Hill has blessed every inclement weather wedding with covered connecting alleyways, giving us the advantage of natural light and protection from the rain. With Julia’s gorgeous glam styled hair, (which I absolutely loved!) I wanted to make sure we were staying dry! We slowly made our way across the court, with Julia and Will snuggled tight under one umbrella. It was just the two of them, with no one else in sight.
I personally love rainy days. They force one to slow down and to just be. First of all, no one is moving too quickly in wet conditions, but also, the moody weather slows our minds down as well. Why not slow down a day you’ve been planning for months or even years? I will admit, it also makes the process a little more difficult, but Julia and Will went anywhere and everywhere, even including their sweet puppy, Millie!
No matter how moody the weather, Julia’s choice of bright florals was the perfect touch to brighten up the day. The wildflower feel of the loose bouquets added to the charm of Blue Hill. The party began long before reception, with the lively wedding party joining the mix before the ceremony for pictures. If you’re going to have anyone in your wedding party, make sure they are the fun group that makes your day that much more hilarious and enjoyable. Julia and Will’s certainly did!
The ceremony took place in the barn under the chuppah covered in flowers, with their little girl in the front row, watching her parents vow themselves to one another in the religious ceremony. The sky fell dark as evening ushered in the candlelit reception and TI Fusion revving up the party! It was the perfect combination of classic elegance for dinner and toasts and ripping up the dance floor until the day ended. We ended our evening with Julia and Will cutting their cake, thanking their loved ones for coming and non-stop dancing.
Julia and Will, we absolutely loved being part of your dreamy wedding day and are so happy for you and your little family! Congratulations!
