What’s the Craziest Thing You’ve Seen at a Wedding?
I get asked this questions a lot! And you know what? I honestly can’t remember some of the crazy things I’ve seen at weddings. I’ve seen emotional moments, things that should not have happened, and some mistakes in a day, but nothing that absolutely ruined a wedding day. I’ve been fortunate enough to not have bridezillas (do they even really exist?!) so I can’t say I’ve even had any confrontational issues!
My one shining moment that made it feel like a movie? The wedding crasher.
Do we call Lancaster, PA weddings destination weddings? I mean, I stayed overnight, so that’s a destination, right? That’s where we meet our wedding crasher.
I was shooting a wedding at the Cork Factory, which is a great venue in the middle of Lancaster, PA. You’re surrounded by farms and fields for miles until you stumble upon this quaint little town that has an old renovated factory in the middle of it.
The wedding was beautiful, the bride and groom the sweetest! The groom, being somewhat of a comedian himself, had the most hilarious best man on the face of the planet. The dance party was in full swing, and as if the energy in the room couldn’t get any better….somehow it did. It had a whole lot to do with the wedding crasher. I don’t know where he came from (we’re in the middle of Amish country!) but come he did, and he brought a whole new level of excitement to the entire party.
I had no idea he was a wedding crasher, until I heard the groom go up to him and say “I know what you’re doing. But I think it’s pretty funny, so go get a drink and dance your face off.”
And that he did. He pulled everyone onto the dance floor. I’m starting to think he was onto something…you couldn’t have hired a better party-starter! I believe he also attended the after party.
He’s in the picture below in an orange bow tie…can you spot him?
