A Fall Wedding at Jasna Polana
Can anyone else quickly read a couple’s dynamic just by watching them interact? When I first met Alison and Mike, I got the feeling that they had grown up together and felt so relaxed and comfortable in each other’s company. I couldn’t imagine them apart. Besides ending our engagement session with Insomnia Cookies, that was my take-away from their Hoboken session.
Their wedding was no different. Alison and Mike waited to see each other until she walked down the aisle at St. James church in Pennington. I think Mike’s anticipation look and final view of his beautiful bride were all the same. In awe, is the best way I could describe him when he finally got a glimpse of his bride. From that point on, every time they looked at each other, they had full on conversations with their eyes. I think that’s what being together for over a decade gets you!
Throughout the wedding day, Alison had a naturally present smile planted on her face, but when Mike (a man of few words) said anything to her, her eyes completely lit up and she giggled uncontrollably. Speaking of giggling, there are an insane number of speech pictures in this blog post. Beside the fact that there were 5 toasts, each one brought a whole range of emotions to Alison and Mike, and I could not help but to include them all. From insane laughter from the newlyweds and the ballroom, to the heartfelt tears elicited by Alison’s stepfather.
Is it wrong that we photographers take so much delight in tears of joy? It’s these emotions of the wedding day, the specific events and the people, that make this job as wedding photographer so fulfilling. Alison and Mike’s wedding was full of all those things.
We ended the night with some epic night shots around Jasna Polana’s beautiful grounds, and just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, we had a cake smash. I get a lot of cake smashed grooms, but a cake smashed bride?! Never.
Alison and Mike, you guys were so much fun! We loved every minute of being part of your wedding day and wish you the very best! Thank you Barbara Wentzel and Kelly Joyce for working so hard along side me!
