The Many Faces of Joy
I can remember each and every one of my clients with a small sound bite to describe them. Kelly and Matt’s sound bite goes a little something like this: Kelly is incredibly kind, smiles all the time and crinkles her nose with every smile. Matt is full of personality and emotion evident in his facial expressions, and is absolutely head over heels for Kelly.
The day started out beautifully, and thankfully with sunny weather. Two weeks prior to their wedding, Kelly told me she looked at the forecast and it wasn’t good. I actually laughed out loud. I told her she wasn’t even allowed to look at the weather until three days prior, at the earliest! I almost texted her on Friday morning to say “it’s safe to look at the forecast.” I know that Kelly and Matt absolutely fell in love with The Park Savoy the moment they saw it, so getting pictures on the grounds was key, and we were going to do that no matter what the weather!
Kelly and Matt married under a perfectly blue sky, and Matt’s reaction to seeing his bride for the first time is PRICELESS! I don’t often group 4 sequential photos together, but I couldn’t help it! Barb caught the best series of photos as Kelly walked down the aisle. The many faces of Matt didn’t stop there either. (Note my first image!) Matt is quite the dynamic character, and that’s one of the many things we love about him.
When Matt started off with his written vows, he told the story of his first NYC adventure with Kelly, and that despite his hatred of the city, it was at that moment when he realized he was in love with Kelly. Unscripted, Kelly’s vows followed with the same exact moment in their lives. She too realized Matt was the man for her during this single adventure together.
We breezed through all of our outdoor portraits before Mr. and Mrs. Hutchinson took the dance floor. They had screens by the DJ playing a slideshow of moments with each other during their first dance, which brought all sorts of expressions to their first dance! Following their first dance, they also had slideshow images for each of their loved ones as Kelly danced with her Dad, and Matt danced with his sisters and Mom.
The Park Savoy lends itself so well to night shots that we were able to use the back with their ballroom in the distance, and watch the newlyweds exit out the front doors through a sparkler exit with their bridal party to end the night.
Kelly and Matt, you two are perfect together and we wish you a lifetime of joy and love! Thank you for having us there to laugh (and cry!) with you, and to photograph every moment! Thank you to Barbara Wentzel for your awesome talent, and Maggie for your amazing assisting skills!
