Since moving to Florida…three weeks ago…I’ve been anxious to take pictures in the beautifully lush green south. When Katherine and Dan told me about their engagement in Greensboro, GA, the pieces fell perfectly into place! While their wedding will take place in New Jersey, capturing their engagement pictures at Reynolds Lake Oconee was a great way to take the memories of this place with them. Dan proposed to Katherine, while visiting her parents, over Thanksgiving weekend on this very golf course. On the 18th hole, Dan snuck the little black box in the hole so that when Katherine reached in to get her ball, she would also find the box. When she turned around, Dan was on one knee asking her to marry him! I’ve learned that golf is one of Katherine and Dan’s favorite past times and this place holds a special place in their hearts. It was the perfect setting for the beginning of their life together.
I had never been to Lake Oconee before and it was an impressive sight! The lake is also enormous and surrounded by several golf communities. I know very little about golf, so when we arrived with a ton of people all preparing for Master’s weekend, I had no idea what I was in for! Besides the droves of people coming in for the event, we were surrounded by the blooming trees and the stunning azaleas that had blossomed (just for us I think!)
Katherine and Dan are such a fun couple. When two people have such a strong chemistry, like they do, the pictures of them just click. Pun intended. I like to say that the session is over when we run out of light. That did in fact happen! Actually we ran out of light toward the end of our shoot. There are so many beautiful locations around the lake! I refused to miss out on them, so we kept going and even managed some pretty glow after the sun dipped below the horizon.
Next spring, we get to celebrate Katherine and Dan’s wedding at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club. This time in New Jersey and I cannot wait!
