Chic Summer Waterfront Wedding at Battello
Every couple planning their wedding has one major disadvantage. They are never a pro until their wedding is over. This experience makes them a wonderful Matron of Honor or Best Man for their privileged friends, but alas, the lessons they learned they will never again use for their wedding. The exception to this rule? Having a bride who works in the wedding industry! Bria is that bride. Bria works with Laura Clare Design, and has seen many weddings (more particularly at her wedding venue – Battello) so had a vision and insight into weddings that most brides crave, ahead of her wedding day.
I had a detailed description of the theme and details from Bria. A summer wedding on the water, at their favorite restaurant. Ivory florals with lots of greenery, with a splash of peach for some summer color. One extra detail I included was a turquoise flat lay mat for some of Bria’s details to match her eyes! I also love the way the turquoise compliments her peach garden rose!
We had the perfect July day over looking Manhattan’s skyline. Kevin waited patiently in his white tuxedo jacket, waiting for his beautiful bride. Bria told us over and over again the morning of the wedding day, that she couldn’t wait to see Kevin. All her anxiety and tenseness just melted away as soon as she saw him. It was the sweetest first look!
Following Bria and Kevin’s first look, we photographed the entire wedding party. Here we can once again point out all the well thought through details. Each bridesmaid had a bouquet of the varying white flowers in Bria’s bouquet. Bria’s best friend, Greg, her “Man of Honor” wore a pocket square made of flowers to differentiate him from the groomsmen, who instead wore monogrammed pocket squares.
Battello was completely transformed into a brightly lit ceremony space. Hanging greenery and straw-woven lanterns hung from the beams. The aisles were lined with florals. The wedding party gathered in the cocktail hour room behind the ceremony space. When Bria descended down the stairs to get ready for her ceremony, Kevin’s face lit up at the realization that this gorgeous woman would momentarily be his wife – it’s one of my favorite moments! Also, this made me so happy that they decided to see each other before the actual ceremony! What more could you want of your wedding day than to spend as much time with each other as possible on this one special day?
Kevin’s brother-in-law officiated the ceremony. As they recessed down the aisle as Mr. and Mrs. their guests showered them with flower petals! It was time for the party to begin!
The views overlooking Manhattan were breathtaking. Every sunset is different, and Bria and Kevin’s was truly special. With the last of their bride and groom portraits taken as the sun dipped behind Jersey City, the real party began. They danced the night away and we danced right along with them.
Congratulations, Bria and Kevin! Thank you for making us part of your beautiful wedding! We loved every moment!
