Caroline and Ross had the perfect fall day for both their engagement and wedding day! I imagine they didn’t realize that the last day in September would have quite as much color as it did. Ross proposed to Caroline on a hike in the fall, surrounded by the fall changing leaves. On the wedding day, Caroline insisted I pick out the best spots for photos, which I love! I really wanted them to experience portraits with as much fall foliage and nature as possible. The golf course at Fiddler’s Elbow had the perfect nook of colorful foliage, just past their first bridge, so we made that location a priority after their first look.
So that they didn’t have to walk too far for their first look, Ross and Caroline met in the little garden in front of Fiddler’s Elbow’s clubhouse. It was so sweet to see Ross’ emotions take over when he first glanced at Caroline. From that moment on, I did very little directing of their feet because they continued to look at each other and share kisses the rest of the day. Photographing two people so in love makes my job so easy!
After all their portraits, we headed out to their church in Pluckemin for the ceremony. Many Presbyterian churches have all the photos taken from the balcony in order to not disrupt the ceremony. Fortunately, Pluckemin’s church has a wrap around balcony so we could get everyone’s expressions from above. After their bubble exit from church, we headed to a little known pond down the street where Caroline’s mom frequents for daily walks. It was beautiful and we had a little intimate moment with just the newlyweds and their parents before they joined their cocktail hour.
By the time we returned to Fiddler’s Elbow, the lights were glowing and the fireplace roared. This was an abnormally autumnesque day for the last day in September!
While I photographed the ballroom, the clouds momentarily broke apart and the most glorious pink and purple sky appeared as the sun dipped below the horizon. We quickly took Caroline and Ross out for a quick photo! It’s one of my favorite “night” shots!
They danced the night away with their family and friends, with Elegant Music Group singing and playing on the dance floor below.
Caroline and Ross, it was an absolute pleasure to be part of your beautiful wedding day! Congratulations!
