Califon Weds

There is something so sentimental about running into someone you’ve known for a while, yet haven’t seen in an even longer time. This is how I feel every time I photograph a “Califon Wedding.” At least half of the reception ballroom from Emily and Becky’s wedding was from Califon. Faces I had seen recently because of other Califon weddings I photographed, but also some I hadn’t seen since I was a child!

Emily grew up right next door to my babysitter, and since all the kids on this block would get home from school, drop their backpacks and run outside to play, I watched her grow up all those years. Then all of a sudden, I went off to high school and in my mind, all the kids stayed kids.

When Emily contacted me about her upcoming wedding, I knew this was going to be a sentimental event, and I was so excited to be part her special day. Seeing Emily and Becky together, you just know how happy they make each other, and you laugh right along with them.

We started our day quietly, in David’s Country Inn’s expansive bridal suite, with only our brides and Emily’s Mom. Watching Becky flinch with every stroke of eye makeup kept the getting ready process full of laughter. Emily’s Mom had a Bible from the 1800s that had been passed down from generation to generation. She wrapped it up for Emily to carry as she walked down the aisle.

We headed out to Rutherford Hall in Allamuchy, which had the most gorgeous views of the lake behind the beautiful Tudor mansion (yes, I LOVE architecture and will be visiting this place again). Emily and Becky’s ceremony took place on the back lawn on a perfect 75 degree partly sunny day. I’ll be asking them for advice on which date to choose for my next momentous occasion!

We headed back to David’s Country Inn to kick off the reception celebration with all brother speeches that kept everyone laughing, and then straight into a dance party.
