What I like about you, Central Park
I have such a love/hate relationship with Central Park. On the one hand, while living on the Upper West Side (once upon a time), I LOVED walking to the park whenever possible.
Central Park reminds me of the early days of my career, when I had just quit my studio job and started this amazing adventure called “Lauren Kearns Photography.” There was this oasis in the middle of the concrete jungle that made you forget about the hustle of being a New Yorker that I absolutely loved.
The “hate” part? That on a super nice day, like this one, the rest of New York decides to visit the park as well. I guess I can’t blame them.
My other problem with Central Park is that I can never find my way around! I know it was designed this way, but it’s very inconvenient when you want to find your way back to an amazing place!
Adriana and Alex definitely spent a lot of time with me as we aimlessly wandered the Central Park maze, but I loved getting to know them better. It’s really my favorite part of every engagement session. There is no stress, no real time restrictions. Just an interactive meet and greet, where I spend a lot of time with my camera to my face.
I had not met Adriana and Alex before their engagement session, but when I saw the most well put together couple in the park, I knew I had found my couple! How an Ivy League med student and NYC lawyer can look so put together for their session amazes me. And yet, they were, and also made posing look easy! There’s only so much I can “pose” a couple. I use posing as a backbone and general rule for making sure my couples look amazing in their pictures. After they learn the fundamentals, it’s up to them to let their personalities shine, and it didn’t take long for me to see the sweet and loving relationship these two have!
I cannot wait for their wedding this Saturday!
