A Traditional Wedding Meets A Contemporary Bride

It’s been so long since I’ve photographed a traditional wedding! What does that even mean? I mean the bride gets ready at her childhood home, sees her groom for the first time coming down the aisle of a church, and has lots of kids as part of the wedding! All of the things we see in Hallmark romance movies, and Rom-coms. That is exactly Jackie and Dylan’s wedding!

When I arrived at Jackie’s house, I was greeted by a prepping room of girls, and Jackie’s mother smiling ear to ear and making sure everyone had everything they needed, drinks in hand and laughter abound! In Jackie’s room were her jewelry, invitation, wedding shoes, and her two-piece wedding dress jumpsuit! Just wait until you see the jumpsuit part of this ensemble! It is the cutest, and made party dancing super easy and fun! We decided Jackie is very consistent in her style, because her entire wedding theme included whites, blacks and greenery and that’s exactly what her childhood bedroom looked like!

The church ceremony was held at St. Vincent Martyr Church in Madison, which is one of my absolute favorite churches! It is beautiful on the inside and out. The Priest gave us a little insight into Jackie and Dylan’s relationship and their journey together over the past couple of years. The most memorable part was how Jackie added in valuable love and relationship advice from her Grandfather. Basically, when two people say “I love you,” then those two people should get married. I think we have Grandpa to thank for this beautiful celebration.

When we arrived at the Mansion at Natirar, the sun was glowing and lighting up the park below. Drinks were flowing, guests were seeing each other for the first time in a long time. We took Jackie and Dylan’s portraits just before heading into reception where they shared their first dance – with Jackie in her pant jumpsuit! You have to look closely to tell that they’re pants, but it is such a good idea! No bustle necessary, the skirt just came right off.

We ended the night with a sparkler exit on the patio out back and it was back on the dance floor for the last dance set!

Jackie and Dylan, thank you so much for choosing us to capture your beautiful wedding!

Spring Showers and May Flowers I have a little “brag box” on my wedding questionnaire that I send to all of my couples a few weeks before their wedding. Sometimes I get a few bullet point remarks, other times I get a story. I received a story from Katherine, and I absolutely loved it. I […]
