A Romantic Tented Wedding

I try not to gush too much when I write about my weddings, but it’s hard for me not to get a little excited about Alex and Greg’s day!  It was one of those events where everything came together – perfect couple (so much fun!) – classic elegant venue – perfect design and vendor expertise – perfect weather!

Alex and Greg’s confidence shines through their pictures.  Scrolling through the photos, you’ll notice the progression of the day – a couple with great poise (and character!), strongly backed-up by an elegant estate setting.  The mature plantings and landscape of Hamilton Farm provide rich greens and multi-dimensional interest as a backdrop to the portraits of the couple and their guests.  As the day advances through the photographs and at the light transitions from the bright yellow of midday to the gold of evening, the greens of the landscape deepen, and the setting becomes increasingly romantic.  Alex and Greg chose to bring the greens of the surrounding landscape into their tent with their floral selections [Cassandra Shah].  This stylistic choice, combined with their use of a canvas Sperry tent with natural wooden poles, creates an ultra-elegant effect.

One of my favorite backstories to the day involved Star Wars. Greg is a big fan, but Alex was a little reluctant to see Darth Vader as the perfect cake topper. In fact, Star Wars memorabilia and references were banished from plain site.  Undeterred, Greg gave Star Wars two clever nods.  First, Chewbacca appeared on his socks (note detail photos).  Second, Greg came down the aisle to The Emperor’s March – just the right degree of humor hidden within the overall elegance of the day.

I love al fresco dinners at wedding receptions! The deep amethyst night settles around the guests, the fireflies beginning to flash on the surrounding lawns, the gentle clinking of crystal glasses, and, at this event, the cascade of florals that mirrored the water running down the backlit fountain are all memories that have stuck in my mind a week later.  Alex and Greg were such a joy to be around and photograph, and careful planning and nature (perfect summer weather) brought them the best wedding day!  Congratulations to Alex and Greg – what a wonderful beginning together!
