A Dusty Blue Poconos Wedding
One thing I’ve learned in my life is that no experience, heartache or incident is for naught. Last year was a difficult year for everyone. We had to learn how to live differently, relate differently and even change our day to day. When I first heard from Caitlin and David, I was booked for their 2020 wedding day. I sent them some referrals and I believe they were all set with a different photographer. However, when the pandemic changed those plans, I heard from them again. I am so glad I did too! While I wasn’t available for their 2020 wedding date, I was available for their 2021 date!
We first met at their engagement session with their darling puppies – Schuyler and Tighe. We took all their pictures in Bethlehem, PA and I found a new town that I absolutely love! We took pictures until there was no more light even left and I knew that their wedding day was going to be something special!
I was not wrong! The Glasbern Inn is tucked into the hills of Fogelsville, PA, not far from Allentown. However, you feel like you’re in the wilderness of the Poconos. The Inn is set up like a campus, with all different shapes and sizes of buildings scattered up down the hills. Caitlin and her bridesmaids were getting ready at the Milk House at the top of the mountain, where I was met with some pretty amazing details that told the story of Caitlin and David, and set the theme of the day. Ranges of dusty blues, mixed with touches of burgundy. Caitlin and David had two ring boxes – one inscribed with their elopement date of 10/07/20 and the other with a “P” for the shared last name of the married couple. Along with the usual wedding prep details was a small little cylindrical cone filled with dried flowers from their elopement almost one year ago. What a great idea and wonderful way to preserve your bouquet! You can find little hints of it in their detail photos.
Caitlin’s wedding dress – so nice, she wore it twice. This is the same dress – when they eloped in Vermont. To add a touch of newness to her attire, she added a long veil, which completed the entire look. Once you see Caitlin in this dress, you understand completely why she wore it twice. The bride and the dress were made for each other.
Caitlin and David made sure they’re puppies, while not in attendance at the wedding, were in full feature. From their signature drinks, to their beer coozies, to their custom cornhole boards, Schuyler and Tighe were a big part of the decor.
The whole day ran seamlessly, thanks to Danielle and Sarah from DKNAP! We had plenty of time for Caitlin and David alone, where they could enjoy being together for portraits and also getting a majority of their “must-have” shot list completed before their ceremony. Their ceremony took place on a hill directly above a pond, with the setting sun behind them. From a photographer’s point of view, this is the perfect place! What a dreamy location to share vows with each other, witnessed by family and friends.
The fun continued on through the night with dancing, light up props (because they are always a big hit!) and even David’s LED bow tie – a personal favorite detail.
Caitlin and David, we are so happy for you! The wedding of our dreams was worth the wait, and we are so glad we could celebrate with you! Congratulations!
