A Timeless Fall Wedding at Fiddler’s
We started Katie’s and Matt’s day at each of their parent’s homes, with a few getting ready photographs and lots of pictures of their beautiful details. I particularly love their invite with the watercolor of Fiddler’s Elbow on the front! Katie is the epitome of a classic bride – from getting dressed in her childhood room, to the timeless and classic venue she chose for her reception. There is something so tried and true about an old estate as your wedding venue, and Fiddler’s Elbow never disappoints! Now we really have to talk about Katie’s dress and the main feature that made everyone excited about it – the bow! You are going to see many pictures of Katie looking over her shoulder because we couldn’t get enough of it!
Katie’s and Matt’s ceremony was held at the Church of the Assumption in Morristown, with a bagpiper to welcome guests as they arrived. The church is a beautiful Victorian building with elegant wall stenciling and lots of interior light – perfect for photographs – and of course to exchange your vows to become husband and wife!
Katie was drawn to Fiddler’s Elbow as a reception venue by the natural warmth and texture of its rich fieldstone façade and gabled slate roof. In many ways, Fiddler’s Elbow is the perfect idealization of a (large) cottage. Knowing that Katie loved Fiddler’s, we did our best to feature the main house with their historic Excaliber, before moving the wedding party to the golf course. One picture Katie and Matt mentioned they loved, is that of the picture window in the front of the building. A few weeks ago, I had a very determined groomsmen who worked the window open, and his handiwork made the window swing wide open once more for these two! We were able to cover quite a bit of the grounds with Katie and Matt for their portraits. I contribute a lot of that to their genuine joy and infectious laughter. I don’t have a single candid of Katie that is bad. She is always smiling and always looks happy, and that is not easy to do!
The night ended in the ballroom with lots of dancing, conversation and joy. Katie and Matt are fun people, and they hosted a lively party. Their band wasn’t just any old band, they are actually entertainers and made the entire reception an actual all-encompassing show! They had everyone on their feet! I know their guests and family will remember this wedding day for years to come. Congratulations Katie and Matt! I loved working with you both – thank you for having us as part of your beautiful wedding day!

A Timeless Fall Wedding at Fiddler’s As we prepared for Katie’s wedding last Saturday, she mentioned that she wanted a look of traditional elegance with a touch of fall, but not as though they were trying too hard. The elegant traditional wedding cannot be overdone of course, but the fall overtones can be! Katie wanted to […]
