Some of my favorite weddings are my favorite before they even happen. Kate and Matt’s wedding is one of those kinds of weddings. Having already photographed her sister’s wedding four years ago AND her best friend’s wedding one year ago, I was so excited to capture Kate and Matt’s wedding day.

It’s so funny to me how varying the weddings are between close friends and family members. Although they are so close, Kate and Matt’s wedding was completely different than her sister’s wedding. Kate’s sleek, modern and urban glam wedding fit her style and personality completely. Some traditions, like getting ready at her Mom’s house and getting married at the local church tied it all together.

We started the day with portraits and first look because Kate and Matt were eager to have the best time dancing by the time they arrived at Battello. One of my favorite moments was the special Auntie/niece dance that Kate surprised her niece, Tessa with. The band played Tessa’s favorite song, “Under the Sea” and blew bubbles onto the dance floor. It was a magical moment for everyone in the room, not least of all Tessa.

It’s not often that you have such an outrageous party that even the band is hyped up on the adrenaline of the guests. That’s exactly what happened. I am usually able to sneak in a moment for night shots, but there was no getting Kate and Matt off the dance floor!
