Classic Wedding at Trump National
When I first spoke with Chrissy and Gerry, they weren’t quite set on a date or venue yet. They knew they wanted to get married in the Somerset Hills, having grown up in the area, but hadn’t pinpointed a venue. We discussed what was most important to them – family, greenery, rolling hills and a place that could handle a large guest count. Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster was their final venue tour, which they hadn’t seen yet. While we discussed their vision over the phone, I had a feeling they would love Trump National. On Monday, I got an email saying “you’re right. We booked Trump National!” And their dream wedding was in the works!
Chrissy and Gerry wanted their “wedding to feel light, natural, romantic, classy, and timeless.” This is something I strive for at every wedding! The natural part I think comes from feeling comfortable – which Chrissy and Gerry certainly did during our fun West Village engagement session last spring. They had so many creative ideas on locations, and activities, and Gerry perfected the linked-arm-champagne drinking. Quite a feat! On their wedding day, we just continued with the same fun, care-free attitude!
Gerry’s parents were married at Church of Christ the King in New Vernon, which made it an obvious choice for Chrissy and Gerry, and I believe technically makes this a family tradition. Following the ceremony, the newlyweds were showered with petals as they exited the church to head to Trump National for pictures.
We could not have asked for a better day, the golf club was bustling with families, and everyone was excited to see and congratulate the bride and groom. There are so many beautiful views at Trump National, and I made a point to whisk Chrissy and Gerry away at every opportunity of golden light, or blue hour as the sun was setting. Chrissy was a true sport with her stunning Jimmy Choo statement pumps – walking through the grass like it was nothing. Chrissy told me she loved greenery, and her shoes and we were going to make it work – even if that meant that Gerry had to carry her a few times to get her there! Gerry loves to have fun and is the life of the party, so it was non-stop laughter and quality time spent with guests.
The toasts were given by Chrissy and Gerry’s siblings – their closest friends. This means we got the full story from their early years up until this very moment. The whole family was beaming with joy that this day was here and their family was officially expanding.
The night continued on with dancing, a gelato cart, cigar station, cake cutting – with a cake that had so much icing, their first cut slice was all icing, and a disco ball after party ending. All of the planning was catered to making sure their friends and family had the best time and memorable night. I know Chrissy and Gerry did, and it’s certainly a day I will never forget!
Congratulations, Chrissy and Gerry! I am so honored you chose us to capture your beautiful, fun, loving family on this most amazing day!
