Laura and Devon’s Sailboat Adventure

There’s something uniquely romantic about the New Jersey Shore, especially when it’s so sentimental! Laura and Devon’s engagement session was nothing short of magical, featuring a sailboat adventure and a stunning beach sunset in Seaside Park. As a photographer, it was a joy to witness and capture their love story, especially since I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Devon’s family since his sister’s wedding last year. I’m beyond excited to be part of their wedding celebration next September!

A Day of Joy and Surprises

Laura, an avid sailor, knew exactly how she wanted to incorporate her passion into the engagement session. We started the day with a sailboat ride, a perfect nod to Laura’s love for sailing. Laura’s father escorted me in a his power boat as we trailed the sailboat – it was so much fun! Their shared laughter made for wonderful pictures, even if they were laughing at the cues I was giving while slightly shouting them across the water!

After our sailboat adventure, we headed to Seaside Park, Laura’s “happy place.” It was here, after a day filled with all her favorite things—walking, playing pickleball, and a relaxing boat ride—that Devon had planned to pop the question. The weather was perfect that evening of his proposal, and we had a mirror image of that wonderful day for their engagement pictures as well!

Devon planned his proposal perfectly – a beach picnic. They went back to her house to make sushi and crab cakes, their favorite dishes, for a beachside feast. Laura, dressed in her favorite white outfit, had no idea what was in store. With their picnic ready, the couple walked back to the beach. As they were about to set up, Devon turned to Laura and said, “Change of plans.” It was at that moment that Laura realized what was happening. Overwhelmed with emotion, she began to cry, knowing that this was the moment they had both been waiting for.

After the proposal and a few more photos on the beach, the couple returned to Laura’s house. There, they were met with a heartwarming surprise—both of their families were gathered to celebrate the engagement.

For Laura and Devon, Seaside Park is not just a beautiful setting but a place filled with personal significance and cherished memories. I hope these pictures help them cherish this time together as they plan their Bonnet Island Estate wedding next September! I can’t wait to celebrate this wedding!
