A Lauren Kearns Bride
I know this is a very odd header for a sneak peek wedding blog, but follow me here! I want to take you back to Kathleen and David’s proposal story!
One warm January Friday, Kathleen and David went out for dinner to a local Mexican restaurant. With unusually warm weather, Kathleen was looking forward to stopping for some ice cream. However, seeing as they ate so much for dinner, David convinced her that they shouldn’t get any. Instead, taking her back to the apartment where he had a surprise box of chocolates. This is where we start to define a LK Bride… Kathleen was so excited to read about the different kinds of chocolates that she didn’t notice the engagement ring right inside! Eventually she noticed, because, David and Kathleen are officially husband and wife!
A Perfect June Wedding Day
Fast forward 18 months later, and Kathleen and David’s wedding day is perfect. Puffy clouds, blue skies, full lush greenery. To top this, I walked into one of the rooms at the Hamilton Farm estate to so many familiar faces! Just 7 months ago, I photographed Kathleen’s sister’s wedding at Natirar. It was not only a happy reunion, but everyone was so calm, knew the routine, and knew I would get them to wherever they needed to be when they needed to be there! The end result? Lots of laughter! Not nervous laughter, but straight up hysterics. Scroll down a bit, and you’ll see Kathleen in full fits of laughter.
David, meanwhile, was waiting for his bride in the back garden. I had high hopes for David, ever since seeing his dynamic “looks” from the engagement session. It’s not easy to look cheerful one moment and then have a perfect “Blue Steel” the next, but David is a master at it! I told my assistant Barb, that he qualified for advanced posing and he did not disappoint!
I could write a book about the family portraits. From the flower girls bouncing around (and flying down the aisle!), to my previous couple, Laura and Hunter, going through the core poses for me when I took their couples shots (I’m so proud!), to David’s grandmother absolutely stealing the show, but I think a picture is worth a thousand words. So, please slow your scroll.
Somehow this wedding just flew by after the ceremony, from cocktail hour to stealing the new Mr. and Mrs. away for a second of sunset pictures, to cake cutting and our goodbyes! I made sure to get a picture with both my wonderful couples at the end of the night and realized just how small I am.
Thank you Kathleen and David for having us there to capture your beautiful wedding! We feel like part of the family! I hope you are soaking up lots of sun and waves in St. Lucia. Thank you Barbara Wentzel for being an amazing second shooter and all day entertainment!
