I Do in Hydrangea Blue

Niki and Tucker’s wedding has been long awaited for us for so many reasons! First of all, I had the pleasure of knowing about their engagement before Niki even did! That’s right! Tucker contacted me to give me all the details about his planned proposal in Central Park just before Christmas in 2019. I hid out at the place he scouted for his proposal, and stalked him on google maps to track their whereabouts in a very crowded Central Park. Niki was in absolute shock (thrilled, but shocked) and we took a couple of photos in the park before celebrating with a congratulatory champagne on the top floor of Bergdorf Goodman, before Tucker surprised her again with dinner at the Pierre surrounded by family and friends.

Not long after their engagement, Niki and Tucker decided on May 2021 for their wedding day. However, like many couples, the pandemic altered their plans slightly and they decided to move their wedding to September. This gave us some more time, however, to get a proper engagement session under their belt to practice before the big day! We met Niki and Tucker in Mantoloking where they often vacation with family on the weekends during the summer. The perfect, sentimental location! Niki described her plans for the wedding, her love for blue hydrangeas, and from her description of her dream wedding to the actual day, it came together flawlessly!

With ample time and a gorgeous setting of Van Vleck Gardens, we captured Niki and Tucker’s first look, portraits with the wedding party and family members before heading to the church to get married! There was a spot of rain just as we arrived at the gardens, but it made the lighting so romantic, and it cleared up soon enough!

I always tell couples that just because you have a first look doesn’t mean that the ceremony won’t be emotional! It’s such a different experience! I love Niki’s happy tears as she walked down the aisle! Such a sweet moment!

After the ceremony, everyone joined together for cocktail hour and reception at the Glen Ridge Country Club. The cocktail spaces and ballroom were decked out in blue florals and no detail was overlooked. This is no surprise, since Tucker’s mother is the owner of Allison Sargent Events, and she’s been waiting for years to help plan Tucker’s wedding!

As favors for the guests, Niki and Tucker had little jars of honey from Tucker’s Uncle’s farm – such a unique and personal detail that I absolutely love!
