From High school sweethearts to husband and wife – Jen and Chris were finally married last Saturday! When I asked Jen about her wedding planning and what they were most looking forward to, she said “Chris and I are high school sweethearts and we feel that we have been ‘married’ for over 10 years, we want our wedding to be relaxing for us and truly a simple celebration of our love (and a heck of a party!)”
You know you’ve done a great job, when everyone at the wedding (myself included) is having a great time. Jen and Chris gave their guests an unforgettable experience to celebrate their wedding day. The surrounding decor that was elegant and timeless, white roses everywhere, a warm candle glow and a jazz duo underlying the sound of cocktail hour conversations. With an extended cocktail hour, Jen and Chris had the perfect combination of relaxing post-ceremony and joining their guests who traveled the globe to celebrate their wedding day.
We had a stressful week leading up to the wedding day – with storms threatening to crash the party – the day arrived with blue skies and puffy white clouds. Every new hour on the radar threatened to bring showers, and every forecast proved wrong, from Jen and Chris’ first look all the way through their indoor/outdoor cocktail hour, allowing guests to enjoy the impressive views. Jen and Chris married on the patio behind Fiddler’s Elbow, overlooking the rolling hills of the golf course as planned!
When I arrived at Fiddler’s Elbow, Jen reminded me that she and Chris have the same favorite side, and she selflessly agreed to switch sides with Chris all day. A majority of the time, my grooms don’t have a favorite side, nor a proclivity for pictures, making them a sort of accessory to the bride, but that is not all how I would describe Chris. I love taking pictures, and love when my couples (both bride and groom) have an opinion about how they look because I know they value their images. Jen said she wants to look back on her pictures and get a sense and feeling of timelessness, something I also value and strive for with all of my couples! To that end, Jen’s veil was the perfect addition to her Justin Alexander gown, and Chris changed into a white jacket for dinner – well thought out details that made an impact.
From classic, timeless and elegant, we switched gears to “one heck of a dance party” for reception, just as ordered. With Craig Scott Band at the helm, the entire room was alive with a high energy vibe that didn’t end until the last song was played. Guests left Fiddler’s Elbow that night with pizza in hand, and a night they’ll never forget.
Jen and Chris, I am so happy for you and thrilled that you shared your wedding day with us! Congratulations on this exciting new chapter in your lives!
